The Survival Project
"The Survival Project is as much about the narratives of survivors as it is about love, connectedness, and mental health. Through physical and vocal expression, it seeks to critically analyze the human condition by showcasing seemingly disparate narratives from around the world and showing that we are all connected-that we are all responsible for one another. It emphasizes that sometimes in loving one's country, your country hurts you but that is the mark of true love. It encourages members of less powerful groups to maintain the light and continue fighting for humanity even though you may be weary. It challenges us to remember history that has been forgotten but paved the way for global change. It suggests that when a country betrays you, it takes time to trust it again and heal." - Ronald McCants, Cultural Consultant
The projection design of The Survival Project emphasizes the interconnectedness, creating a network of lines among the performers on stage, energy being passed between one another, pushing the stories forward. This energy is the light that we must maintain and share. The projections embody these forgotten stories, dredging them up from painful memories of the past. Placing us in the world of each story.
